Terms of Service

Last updated: October 21, 2026

Welcome to The Code Translator at thecodetranslator.com (the “Site”). The Site is operated as an independent web publication by The Code Translator (“we”, “us” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) explain the rules for using the Site and its tools.

By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. What the Site offers

The Site offers free online tools and guides for codes and secret messages. These include:

  • The Binary Code Translator, text to binary, binary to ASCII and related binary tools
  • Charts, printable worksheets, guides and reference pages

We call these the “Tools” and the “Content”. You do not need an account to use them.

2. Free to use

The Tools are free for personal, educational and non-commercial use. We may add, change, limit or remove any Tool or feature at any time, without notice. We may also offer paid features in the future. If we do, we will show the price and terms before you pay.

3. How your input is handled

  • Processed in your browser. Most Tools convert text in your browser. The text you type is not sent to our servers for conversion.
  • Files you upload. Text, audio and image files you load into a Tool are processed in your browser where possible. Do not upload files that contain sensitive or confidential information.
  • Shareable links. When you create a shareable message link, your message is placed in the link itself. Anyone who has the link can read the message. Binary is a code, not encryption. It does not keep a message private or secure.

For details on cookies, analytics and advertising, see our Privacy Policy.

4. Your responsibilities

When you use the Site, you agree not to:

  • Use the Tools or shareable links to send messages that are unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful or defamatory, or that infringe anyone’s rights
  • Use the Site for anything illegal
  • Access, copy or scrape the Site with bots, scripts or other automated tools without our written permission
  • Overload, disrupt or try to break the Site, its security or its servers
  • Upload viruses or other harmful code
  • Copy the Site’s design, code or Content and present it as your own

You are responsible for the messages you create and share with the Tools.

5. Accuracy and important uses

We work to keep the Tools and Content accurate, but we cannot promise they are free of errors.

  • Check before you rely on it. If you plan to use a translation for something permanent or costly, such as a tattoo, engraving, jewelry or a gift, check the result with the chart on the Site or a second source first.
  • Not for real emergencies. SOS and other emergency signals on the Site are for learning only. In a real emergency, contact local emergency services by phone or another approved method. Do not rely on the Site or its Tools to call for help.
  • Decoders are best effort. Audio, camera and image decoders depend on sound quality, lighting, speed and spacing. They may give wrong or incomplete results.
  • Educational content only. Guides about amateur radio, licensing or history are general information, not professional or legal advice.

6. Printables and embeddable widgets

  • You may print and share our printable charts and worksheets for personal, classroom and non-commercial use, as long as you keep the credit to thecodetranslator.com.
  • You may not sell our printables or include them in a paid product without our written permission.
  • If we offer an embeddable widget, you may add it to your website using the code we provide. You must keep the credit link in place and not change how the widget works. We may update or withdraw the widget at any time.

7. Our content and intellectual property

The Site’s text, charts, graphics, design, logo, software and code belong to us or to our licensors. They are protected by copyright and other laws. Except as allowed in these Terms, you may not copy, republish, sell or change them without our written permission.

Short quotes with a link back to the Site are welcome.

Codes such as ASCII and binary are public standards. These Terms do not claim ownership of them. They cover only our own presentation, tools and Content.

8. Links to other websites

The Site may link to other websites, including sources, standards bodies, apps and resources. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, policies or practices. A link does not mean we endorse the website.

9. Advertising

The Site may show ads or affiliate links. Ads are provided by third parties. We are not responsible for their products, services or claims. If you buy something through an affiliate link, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

10. Children

The Site has content for students and families. Children under 13 should use the Site with a parent, guardian or teacher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. See our Privacy Policy for details.

11. No warranty

The Site, Tools and Content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, availability and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Site will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or free of errors or viruses.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Code Translator and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, profits, business opportunities, or other financial losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its Tools.

We do not guarantee that translations, conversions, or decoding results will always be accurate or error-free. Users are responsible for independently verifying results before relying on them for important, permanent, commercial, or safety-related purposes.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for claims arising from or relating to the Site or its Tools shall not exceed US $50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to protect us from any claims, losses or costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come from your misuse of the Site, your breach of these Terms, or messages or content you create and share using the Tools.

14. Ending access

We may block or limit access to the Site for anyone who breaks these Terms or misuses the Tools, without notice.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If you keep using the Site after an update, you accept the updated Terms.

16. Disputes

If you have a concern about the Site or these Terms, please contact us first. Most issues can be resolved quickly this way, and we will try to resolve yours within 30 days.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live.

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a part of these Terms, that does not mean we give up the right to enforce it later.
